The Queensland Reds claimed a convincing victory over the ACT Brumbies in their Super Rugby Pacific clash on Good Friday, winning 38-13 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. The Reds were dominant from start to finish, scoring six tries to one to claim their second win of the season and maintain their unbeaten home record.

Sulasiaosi and Creighton return to the starting lineup

The Reds made two changes to their starting lineup for the clash, with utility back Sulasiaosi earning his first start and Bryce Hegarty shifting to fullback, while Suliasi Vunivalu moved to the bench. In the forwards, Angus Scott-Young moved to blindside flanker, with Liam Wright shifting to openside flanker and Fraser McReight dropping to the bench. Meanwhile, Jordan Petaia was ruled out with a shoulder injury, allowing Filipo Daugunu to start on the wing.

Reds' dominant start

The Reds started the match with plenty of intensity and were soon on the scoreboard, with Filipo Daugunu crossing for the opening try in the seventh minute. The Reds continued to dominate possession and territory, and were soon rewarded with another try, this time to Sulasiaosi in the 20th minute.

The Brumbies hit back with a try to Tom Wright in the 28th minute, but the Reds responded with another try to Taniela Tupou just before halftime to take a 21-10 lead into the break.

Second-half dominance

The Reds continued to dominate in the second half, with Bryce Hegarty crossing for their fourth try in the 46th minute. The Brumbies were unable to get any momentum going and the Reds soon had their fifth try, with replacement hooker Brandon Paenga-Amosa crossing in the 60th minute.

The Brumbies were able to score a consolation try through Connal McInerney in the 71st minute, but it was too little, too late, as the Reds scored their sixth try through replacement back Josh Flook in the 78th minute to seal a convincing victory.

Looking ahead

The win sees the Reds move to the top of the Super Rugby Pacific standings with nine points from their first two matches. They will now turn their attention to their next match against the Western Force in Perth next weekend.

The Brumbies, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from the defeat as they prepare to take on the Melbourne Rebels in Canberra next weekend. The Brumbies will be looking to improve their poor record against the Reds, having now lost their last five matches against the Queensland side.
