The Vegas Golden Knights took a commanding 2-1 series lead in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs after defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 3 on Sunday night.
The Golden Knights dominated the Oilers throughout the game, outshooting them 43-24 and controlling the pace of play. After a scoreless first period, Vegas broke the game open in the second period with four unanswered goals, including three in just over three minutes.
Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, making his first career playoff start, was pulled from the game after allowing the fourth goal. He finished the night with 23 saves on 27 shots, while backup Mike Smith made 16 saves on 17 shots in relief.

Despite the loss, Oilers forward Connor McDavid extended his point streak to eight games with an assist on Edmonton's lone goal, scored by Jesse Puljujarvi in the third period.
With the series now shifting back to Edmonton for Game 4, the Oilers will need to regroup quickly and find a way to slow down the Golden Knights' high-powered offense if they hope to even the series.
Heading into Game 4, the Oilers will likely need more production from their secondary scorers, as McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have accounted for nearly half of the team's goals this postseason. Additionally, they will need a strong performance from whoever gets the start in goal, as the Golden Knights have shown that they can score in bunches when given the opportunity.
